Webflow Conf 2026 features: what to use on your site now

Components in CMS rich text, the Box element, slot defaults and agentic translation: the Webflow Conf 2026 releases worth using now, and what is still coming.

Webflow Conf 2026 (1 to 3 September, Boston) was dominated by Source by Webflow, but Source is still in a limited research preview. The releases that change your day-to-day work are smaller and already live: components inside CMS rich text, the breakpoint canvas, the new Box element with tag selectors, default components for slots, and agentic translation in Webflow Localize.

This guide sorts what you can use today from what is announced but not yet available, at the time of writing (November 2026), and suggests where each feature earns its place on a real marketing site.

What shipped, at a glance

Feature Status (November 2026) Most useful for
Components in CMS rich text Released 2 September, rolled out to all users Blogs, resources, case studies
Breakpoint canvas Released 2 September in Design, Build and Edit modes Responsive QA, reviewing AI changes
Agentic translation (Localize) Rolling out from 29 September Multilingual sites
Box element and tag selectors Released 13 October, all plans including Free Semantic structure, cleaner styling
Default components for slots Released 23 October, all plans Component handover to marketers
Sitemap lastmod per page Released 20 August Faster recrawling of updated pages

Components in CMS rich text

This is the update most content teams will feel first. You can now drop any Webflow component into a rich text field, on the canvas or in the CMS panel, and set its properties for that one item. Press / or the + button in a rich text field, choose Component, and its settings open straight away. Change the main component later and every instance across your CMS updates with it.

Good candidates:

  • Inline calls to action in blog posts, with the button text and link set per article.
  • Pull quotes and testimonial cards in case studies.
  • Comparison tables or pricing snippets that need to match the rest of the site.
  • AI code components such as calculators, which Webflow says work in the CMS like any other component.

Know the limits before you plan around it. Components that contain Collection Lists cannot go into rich text, components in rich text cannot be bound to CMS fields, and their slots cannot be exposed. If your posts currently rely on custom code embeds for these blocks, a component library is usually easier for editors to use and safer to maintain.

Box element and tag selectors

The Add panel now offers one Box element in place of Div Block, Section, Container, Columns, Grid, V Flex and H Flex. You pick the HTML tag as a setting (div, section, nav, header, footer, main, article, aside, address or figure) and can change it at any time without swapping the element.

Alongside it, Webflow added 19 global tag selectors, so you can style all sections, all navs or all buttons once, much like a type selector in CSS. Two details matter for existing sites:

  • Your current elements keep working. They are hidden in the Add panel, not removed, and a Box with the div tag publishes the same output as a Div Block.
  • New tag selectors start empty, so nothing changes visually until you set a style.

For new builds, Box makes it easier to get sensible landmarks (header, main, footer, nav) in place from the start, which helps screen reader users and gives search engines and AI crawlers a clearer page structure. For older sites, there is no need to rebuild. Use Box for new sections and tidy up structure when you touch a template anyway.

Guardrails for marketers: visibility, restrictions and slot defaults

If you hand a component system to a marketing team, three features now work together:

  1. 1 Component visibility controls (August): choose which components people with the Marketer role can see in Build mode.
  2. 2 Slot restrictions (August): limit which components are allowed in a given slot.
  3. 3 Default components for slots (October): a slot can now arrive pre-filled, for example a card that comes with its button already in place.

When you update a slot default on the main component, instances still using it update too, while marketers can swap, reset or clear the slot on customised instances. Webflow notes that slot defaults accept components only, and that components in CMS rich text show their defaults but their slot content cannot be edited there. Webflow also says these guardrails apply whether someone edits directly or an agent works through the Webflow MCP server.

Set the guardrails before the handover, not after the first broken page.

Breakpoint canvas and performance

The breakpoint canvas shows desktop, tablet, mobile and large breakpoints side by side, so you can see how a change cascades without clicking through each one. It is not available in Preview or Comment mode. It is particularly handy for reviewing changes made by a teammate or an AI agent.

Webflow also reported performance gains this year: by its own figures, published site rendering is up to 43% faster and publishing up to 80% faster, with copying and pasting large elements in the Designer much quicker. Treat these as vendor figures and measure your own pages with your usual tools.

Agentic translation in Webflow Localize

For multilingual sites, agentic translation is the biggest workflow change. When you switch it on for a target language you can choose:

  • One-time translation: a single pass for you to review. It does not update when the source changes.
  • Continuous translation: the locale stays in step with your primary content, using your tone, formality and glossary settings.

Two controls make it safer to use. Exclusion rules keep chosen pages, components, CMS fields and props (SKUs, reference codes, internal fields) out of translation entirely, and Webflow says excluded content is never passed to a model. Translation memory reuses existing translations when the source text and settings have not changed.

It is included on all Localize plans, but translated words count towards your plan's pooled word limits, and you can use AI credits beyond that. For regulated or brand-critical copy, continuous translation with a human review step for key pages is a sensible middle ground.

Announced, but not on your site yet

  • Source by Webflow: limited research preview.
  • Releases (branching a whole site, including CMS content and locales): beta planned for later this year.
  • Popovers and native sliders, tabs and accordions: popovers were due to roll out in the weeks after Conf, with the others later this year. Check your Designer before planning a build around them.
  • Style props for components: later this year.
  • Assets (agentic brand creative): beta from October.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to rebuild my site with the Box element?

No. Existing Div Blocks, Sections and Containers keep working and publish the same markup. Use Box for new work.

Which plans get these features?

Webflow says Box and tag selectors are available on any plan including Free, and slot defaults on all plans. Agentic translation needs a Localize plan.

Not directly. Components containing Collection Lists cannot be placed in rich text, and components there cannot be bound to CMS fields.
